Dub Addxx: "Dub mission" (Lush records) Autori Vari: "A.k.a. dub" (Lush
records) Lush records e' un'attivissima etichetta indipendente svedese,
che si sta mettendo in luce sulla scena internazionale con prodotti di
buona qualita', ed i cui riferimenti stilistici sono squisitamente roots
e dub. L'approccio dei gruppi made in USA al roots reggae di solito e'
molto legato ai canoni "classici", e questo CD dei DUB ADDXX (importante
gruppo della Bay area, San Francisco) ci offre liriche, ritmi e melodie
e dubs da manuale. Allo stesso tempo pero' in DUB MISSION c'e' una freschezza
espressiva originale, comune ad altri nuovi gruppi americani, fatta di
suoni molto puliti e piacevoli da ascoltare. Notevole la massiccia sezione
fiati (veri, no digital...), mentre le versioni dub non offrono molti
spunti originali, e risultano un po' piatte. Una vera bomba dub e' invece
la seconda release della LUSH records: A.K.A. DUB apre con un Mad Professor
che manipola con folle maestria un brano dei Black Roots. Il resto del
CD e' quasi tutto dub inglese di alta scuola, con Dub Judah, Mixman e
Armagideon, con un finale americano (Dub Adxx e ABENG) e olandese (Twilight
Circus) che riescono a reggere molto bene il confronto con i maestri britannici.

Lush records is a very active independent label from Sweden, establishing
itself on the international scene with good quality roots and culture
products. The USA bands approach to roots reggae is, usually, much related
to "classics" canons, and this CD by DUB ADDXX (important band from San
Francisco Bay Area) offer us impeccable lirics, melodies, rhythms and
dubs. At the same time in DUB MISSION there is an original expressive
freshness, and a very clean sound, in common with other new american bands.
Remarkable massive horns section (real, no digital...), but the dub mixes
don't are much original. Instead, the second Lush records release is a
very dub bomb: A.K.A. DUB start with a Mad Professor manipulating a Black
Roots track with crazy maestry. The rest of the CD is almost all high
school english dub, with Dub Judah, Mixman and Armagideon, with an american
(DUB ADDXX and ABENG) and netherlandian (Twilight Circus) final that stand
up to comparison with the british masters. Well done Lush records!
